New motorcycles for the Bavarian police
The Bavarian police depends on the latest generation of police motorcycles. “The BMW R 1250 RT is powerful, state-of-the-art, and particularly safe”, praised Joachim Herrmann, Interior Minister of Bavaria, with regard to the qualities of the new police motorcycles. “The constitute an exceptional work tool for our police officers.” Seven additional BMW motorcycles have already been ordered.

As Hermann explained, the new police motorcycles were equipped with many features: “The most important thing is the greatest possible level of safety for our police officers.” Among other things, these bikes have Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), the slope-dependent ABS Pro, and Hill Start Control Pro. Moreover, police experts were actively involved in the development of the new model, according to Hermann. For example, there are additional flashing visual warning lights on the rear, special reflective surfaces for better recognisability, as well as a state-of-the-art radio antenna that ensures optimal communication.
In Hermann's words, police motorcycles are an important work tool. The Bavarian police have a total of over 250 police motorcycles, of which 170 are officially marked. The range of applications ranges from traffic monitoring to escorting state visitors. In the EU-wide tender for a multi-year framework contract to supply the Bavarian police with officially marked motorcycles, BMW Motorrad was awarded the contract in 2017.
Timo Resch: “BMW Motorrad has a long tradition of supplying official vehicles. In the past year, we have delivered 2,500 authority vehicles around the world. We are very happy to hand over these new BMW R 1250 RT’s to the Bavarian police. The vehicles are developed in close cooperation between BMW Motorrad and the police. I think that all involved, including the police officers who will ride the motorcycles, are looking forward to using them.”
